WHAT SHOULD YOU DO, IF GOODWEAR MAKES NOISE?
First of all, you have to understand that there are not absolutely noiseless hoods. The work of cooker hood, as well as the work of most kitchen appliances, is accompanied with noise. In this case, these are sounds of engine, rotation of blades and movement of air through the air duct to the mine. Before buying a cooker hood, be sure to familiarize yourself with its specifications and pay special attention to the noise level specified in the instruction manual. Read here how to choose the cooker hood.
In the technical passport of the cooker hood, the minimum (operation of cooker hood at the minimum speed) and the maximum (operation of cooker hood at the maximum speed) noise level is specified. When choosing the cooker hood, pay attention to lower figure, because “maximum” you will turn on only if it is urgent (for example, if you have burned something). In most cases, your kitchen assistant will perfectly perform its air purifying function at the first speed.
Cooker hood can work:
- very quietly (up to 35 decibels) – noise, generated by the motor and the flow of air, can be compared to a whisper of man;
- quietly (up to 45 decibels) – noise from the work of cooker hood can be compared with hushed conversation;
- normal (up to 55 decibels) – this noise level can be compared to the usual conversation;
- loudly (more than 60 decibels) – noise level corresponds to a loud conversation;
- such cooker hoods are classified as industrial and are not recommended to be used in everyday life.
If the level of noise exceeds the one specified in the technical passport, first of all you must check the correct installation of air duct. Often, the cause of excessive noise when working of the cooker hood is the additional air resistance that occurs as a result of installation of inappropriate design of ventilation ducts. It is worth remembering that the more obstacles to the passage of air, the more noise it creates.
The most common mistake – diameter of air duct. Eleyus cooker hoods have the diameter of air duct at least 120 mm. With the installation of smaller diameter air duct, additional resistance appears and, accordingly, the noise level increases. With the installation of duct of larger diameter, the resistance decreases, the cooker hood becomes easier to “breathe”, the noise level decreases.
Additional air resistance is also due to the presence of transitions (from one cross section to another, from one diameter to another) and a large number of bends in the air duct. Any transition or bend (especially at right angles) is the reason for the increase in noise level of cooker hood. In case of need for transition from round air duct to flat, the transition shall be placed far from the cooker hood.
An important factor for the normal operation of cooker hood is also the length of air duct. The longer the air duct, the more it is necessary to load the cooker hood and activate it at maximum speeds (the noise level at high speeds, respectively, is higher). If it is necessary to use long air ducts, it is recommended to install air duct with diameter of 150 mm.
Another reason for additional noise – the use of very convenient corrugated air ducts at mounting. In some cases, they are the only possible solution to the problem of connecting several ventilation circuits to one system. However, it is better if the duct is made of smooth plastic, but not of corrugated.
Resistance to passage air can be created not only due to improper design of air duct, but also due to condition of ventilation shaft. If it is clogged, then the air outflow will be bad, and the work of cooker hood is inefficient and noisy. The organization, which serves your home (Public Utilities Service Provider, Association of co-owners of apartments in apartment building), will help you to check up the ventilation.
For the effective operation of the cooker hood, it is necessary to ensure not only the normal outflow, but also the inflow of air (for example, open the window), or to install flowing ventilation.
The noise of cooker hood can increase if you do not install a check valve that is in all ELEYUS cooker hoods.
The reason for excessive noise of cooker hood may be untimely cleaning of multiple grease filters, or untimely replacement of coal filters (used in recirculation mode). Delaying grease and dust from the air, they are clogged, so they must be washed every 1.5-2 months in hot water with ordinary detergent.
The cooker hood can rattle due to improper mounting. In instructions, it is recommended to trust the installation and connection of cooker hoods to qualified specialists. And not for nothing! One of the most common mistakes is the wrong mounting of air duct. For example, very often ducts are mounted not to the wall, but to kitchen cabinets or counter ceiling, which makes the vibration and characteristic rattling noise during the work of cooker hood.
So that the cooker hood Eleyus always pleases you with its silent and efficient work, it is necessary to carry out proper mounting work, use for the installation plastic ventilation pipes with diameter of 120 mm or more, try to minimize the number of turns and transitions in ventilation pipes, provide normal inflow and outflow of air indoors, and also clean filters in a timely manner.
